Our Story

Who We are

The "Rugezi Ornithology Center (ROC)" is a youth led Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Rwanda with legal personality No: 1147/RGB/NGO/OC/12/2022, aim to promote avitourism and biodiversity conservation through bird research by Empowering local community to ensure sustainable development. From various results of birding outings across the country through different local clubs after realizing how birds are in danger due to habitat loss, ignorance of local community and their anthropogenic activities toward birds habitats, a group of Rwanda youth birders aims at taking serious action to protect bird's habitat and further the research on birds of Rwanda to ensure sustainable development through ringing, birds conservation and habitat protection to empower livelihood of local community.
